This morning the Yellow House Reserve in Mindo clo This morning the Yellow House Reserve in Mindo cloud forest was alive with color and sound. A male Red‑headed Barbet glowed in the canopy, a Gray‑breasted Wood‑Wren catched is first breakfast, aracaris moved through the palmito palms, and tiny Ornate Flycatchers and Slaty Antwrens worked the understory—and many more quiet treasures made it into my notebook. In a reserve that holds hundreds of bird species and miles of trails, every bend feels like the start of a new checklist. Today I didn’t just count birds; I let the cloud forest slow me down and remind me how lucky we are to share this valley with so much life.-------------

A small traveler crosses the stony path. He is in A small traveler crosses the stony path. He is in no hurry, he doesn’t check time, he knows nothing of goals or performance.
We were taught to run, to arrive first, to never stop. But what if true wisdom were found in walking more slowly, breathing more deeply, seeing more clearly?Because when we slow down, the noise fades and the details appear: a stone that glitters, a breeze that caresses, a thought that is finally heard. We understand there is no single path laid out for us; we draw it with every choice, every pause, every “today I go slower, but I am present.”Let this image remind us of something simple and powerful: we do not need to run in order to live intensely. Sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is keep moving forward at the rhythm of the heart, even when the world seems to spin faster than we do. In the end, what matters is not how long it takes us, but how much we feel while we walk.

There are hikes you do once in a lifetime – and th There are hikes you do once in a lifetime – and those you return to again and again. For me, Huerquehue National Park in southern Chile clearly belongs to the second category. Between ancient araucaria trees, clear lagoons, and views of volcanoes, every step feels like stepping into another time. The path climbs, roots become natural steps, breathing becomes more difficult – but at the top, tranquil lakes like mirrors and a tree line suddenly reveal views of Villarrica, Lanín, and the surrounding peaks. In this enchanted forest, you get the feeling that the trees have heard countless stories from hikers who have sought answers up here.Perhaps that is exactly what would draw me back there again and again: Huerquehue asks no questions, but it changes the way you ask your own. Those who embark on this journey will not only return with impressive photos of lagoons and volcanoes, but also with a quiet longing to walk through this forest once again.
Is this South America’s best-kept secret? 🇨🇱✨For Is this South America’s best-kept secret? 🇨🇱✨For me, the enchanting island of Chiloé in southern Chile is a mystical world like no other. At the gateway to Patagonia, it’s a place where 16 UNESCO-listed timber churches rise from emerald green hills and colorful stilt houses reflect in the shifting tides. 🏠🌊
But Chiloé is more than just a landscape—it’s a land of deep mythology and where time seems to make a pause. 🧜‍♀️⚓️
Here, legends like the ghost ship Caleuche or the sea spirit Pincoya are still told as if they happened yesterday. It’s a place where traditional fishing villages live by the rhythm of the sea, and penguins share the wild Pacific coast with migrating whales. 🐧🐋

Ecuatorian Hillstar mama feeding her chicks at alm Ecuatorian Hillstar mama feeding her chicks at almost 5.000 meters – this is what high‑Andes magic looks like. 🌋✨ In Chimborazo Reserve in Ecuador, this tiny hummingbird survives wind, cold and thin air, yet still finds the energy to raise her young between Chuquiragua flowers and icy slopes.
Watching her fly in and out again and again is like seeing pure dedication in slow motion – a reminder of how fragile and precious life in the páramo really is.
👉 Save this reel for your next Ecuador trip and DM me “CHIMBORAZO” if you want to visit the hillstar’s kingdom with me.-----------
